As the only locally owned and operated health system in San Antonio and Bexar County, University Health takes to heart its responsibility to serve the health needs of our community today and into the future. As South Texas' academic medical center, University Hospital provides the highest level of care for the most serious illnesses and injuries. Designations include: Level I Trauma Center for both adults and children, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level IV (highest) Maternity Center and NICU. University Health includes a broad network of primary and specialty care centers, Community First Health Plans, a nonprofit health plan and University Medicine Associates, a nonprofit provider group practice. A new Women's & Children's Hospital will open in 2023. We are honored to serve all who entrust us with their health and lives with respect and compassion.
