The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is a multi-function support agency with extensive responsibilities to support New York’s criminal justice system. Since its establishment in 1972, DCJS has enhanced public safety by providing resources and services that inform decision making and improve the quality of the criminal justice system. The agency:
•    trains law enforcement and criminal justice professionals;
•    collects and analyzes statewide crime data;
•    performs research, analysis, and technical assistance for criminal justice stakeholders;
•    maintains criminal history information and fingerprint files;
•    manages state and federal criminal justice funds;
•    oversees and supports probation departments and community correction programs;
•    administers the state’s sex offender registry, missing persons clearinghouse, and DNA databank;
•    maintains breathalyzer and speed enforcement equipment; and
•    administers and supports several commissions and councils.

DCJS annually coordinates the state’s Police Officers Memorial Remembrance Ceremony, which occurs in May at the memorial on the Empire State Plaza in Albany.
DCJS hosts internal events to promote diversity and inclusion. Within the past year, the agency has celebrated Women’s History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and Black History Month.
